Forestry and TimberForestry is one of New Zealand’s most important primary industries and Streat Automation have been involved in a number of major projects Nelson Pine: The 'C Saw' Controller. A new install where Anthon from Germany provided the hardware and Streat Automation wrote the software. The system comprised of a Rockwell ControlLogix PLC, Intouch HMI and Rockwell PanelView Plus terminals for manual operations. Motors were controlled by Sercos Digital Servo drives for precision movement and Powerflex drives on ControlNet for conveyor speed control. Position sensors were on DeviceNet as was the interface to the Kuka Industrial robots used for high speed stacking. Nelson Pine: The 'B Saw' Controller. Automation upgrade of a dual Allen Bradley PLC5 with a Rockwell ControlLogix PLC, Intouch HMI and Rockwell MOA2E Analog Servo controls for drives. The system automatically cuts stacks of MDF into various shaped packs selected by the operator. This upgrade was done while the existing control system remained in place so that the system was always available. Nelson Pine: The 'A Saw' Controller. Automation upgrade of a 15 year old Siemens S5 PLC with a Rockwell ControlLogix PLC and Intouch HMI and PDL variable frequency drives. The system automatically cuts stacks of MDF into various shaped packs selected by the operator. The changeover was achieved in the planned two-week downtime with the new system delivering much better performance and reliability. Nelson Pine: Energy Centre Automation & commissioning of the Energy Centre. Daikin Rangiora: Line 1, Line 2 & Energy Centre Automation & commissioning. Daikin Rangiora: Engineering Consultancy on various projects including safety system upgrades, legacy PLC support (PLC5) and tender evaluation. CHH Tasman: SMAR Foundation Fieldbus for the Lime Kiln and Causticising plant with iFIX HMI and Rockwell PLC5’s. Goldpine Industries: Modifications to a cut optimisation system using high speed processing and laser scan technology.
