Mining & Coal Handling

Solid Energy Stockton: Streat Automation completed a major Mining and Coal Handling project for Solid Energy. Streat supplied the automation and control system to the primary contractor Brightwater Engineering. ControlLogix with RSViewSE SCADA. Ethernet comms to Rockwell Powerflex 700 variable frequency drives and SMC soft starter drives. Networked with Stratix Ethernet switches. Custom programmed Tesys-T DOL motor controllers. RSSQL based production reporting system.

Solid Energy Stockton: Lime Dosing system with pH correction for water entering rivers. Main PLC is a CompactLogix with RSViewSE SCADA.

Lyttelton Port: Fast Coal handling system, consisting of a Train Unloader, Stacker, Reclaimer and Shiploader. The system is based on distributed Rockwell ControlLogix PLC’s & FlexIO with dual RSView32 HMI servers and ADS clients. RSSQL links the data to an SQL database that is used to provide reports. Other unique features of this project include:

• Automated train unloading and coal stacking,
• Automated coal reclaiming and online blending,
• Ship Loading via automated schedule to maintain ship stability,
• Communications between the moving equipment via radio Ethernet.
• Stacker & Reclaimer collision avoidance system using SICK LMS laser sensors and dedicated anti-collision software.

Solid Energy Stockton Mine: Aerial rope-way coal transport system.

Solid Energy Spring Creek: Underground mine coal slurry pumping system.

Solid Energy Rocky Creek: Coal handling and processing system. The system comprises of SLC500's with a dual screen RSView32 supervisory.

Macraes Gold Mine: Control system for the gold recovery pressure oxidation plant.
